Our roots run deep.

The history of Hotel State College & Co. runs parallel with that of Penn State University & Happy Valley. What began as Jack’s Roadhouse in 1855 has grown into the epicenter of State College, PA.  Located directly across from Penn State’s campus, Hotel State College & Co. offers great dining, exciting nightlife, warm hospitality and unique accommodations.

Where it all began.

The Corner Room is a Penn State tradition whose ties go back to the start of the University itself. Whereas The Penn State University started off as The Pennsylvania Farmers High School, The Corner Room started as Jack’s Roadhouse in 1855. Renamed “The Corner Room” in 1926, we offer a mix of American classics and more adventurous contemporary cuisine, all at affordable prices.

Not for Saints… Not for Sinners…

The story of Mr. Bill Pickle is the stuff of legend and dates way back to prohibition. You could say that Bill Pickle fought the law, and won. During prohibition, Bill Pickle was Penn State’s most popular figure, bootlegging and delivering saucy social lubricants in the wee hours across campus. Today, we celebrate Bill Pickle’s rebellion daily.

Chumley’s is a bar where ideals become reality. A place where you’re not judged because of your gender or sexual orientation. Chumley’s is a  gay bar where you’re encouraged to be one thing, and that’s yourself. We’re known as the friendliest bar in Happy Valley and we’re proud of that. Stop by and we’ll prove it.

Zeno’s was craft and world beer before craft and world beer was cool. Some call it a dive bar, some call it an escape from madness – we call it punk rock. There’s a reason why national publications like Beer Advocate & Playboy have rated Zeno’s one of the best places to drink a cold one. We also know a thing or two about liquor. You’ll also want to check out Zeno’s 2 Go, a tiny little beer heaven nestled in between Chumley’s and Indigo featuring a collection of yellow fizzies for mass consumption and “the good stuff” a hand curated collection of craft goodness.
